Obituary of Daniel Sheppard

Daniel Payne Sheppard was born on October 2, 1938, to the late William Henry and Emma Wilkins in Deep Creek, Virginia. He departed this life on August 6th, 2023. During his youth, Daniel moved to Camden NJ. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve (USAR) in 1957. He received an Honorable Discharge Daniel married Constance “Connie” Hickman in 1977. The union became a blended family of ten children. Daniel received Christ and joined the First Nazarene Baptist Church. Daniel worked at multiple places in his lifetime, Penn Fish Company, Flintkote Company and Camden City Board of Education, until his retirement. Daniel loved entertaining and hosting family and friends. He is known for his great sense of humor. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife and friends both domestically and abroad. He was also an avid fan of listening to 50s, 60s, and 70s R&B music. Daniel was predeceased by his siblings William Henry Jr., Major, Raymond, Edwin, Carl, and Wayne, sons; Robert Pratt and Dwight Sheppard daughters; Sharon Sheppard and Lois Sheppard. He leaves to mourn his passing James (Jackie) Pratt, Gregory (Crettie) Keaton, Keith (Linda) Pratt, Cynthia Madison, Bruce Sheppard, Jeffrey Sheppard, Dewvay Sheppard; brother Alvin (Gladys) Sheppard, sister Carolyn Ellison, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a special cousin Georgia Sheppard, a special sister-in law Elva Sheppard, a special friend Joyce Jones and many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
