Please share a memory of Chandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Chandra Layton was born June 30, 1979 to Carmen Goodman and Kevin Layton. Chandra was born in Philadelphia, PA. She was raised on a quiet block in Germantown along with her siblings Kevin, Honey and Shante. Chan spent her teenage years growing up on 12th and Cambria, which is known as 12th Street. She was surrounded by a bundle of family and friends. Excited to raise a family she moved to Camden, NJ. Their beautiful daughters Turquoise Layton, Imani McNair and Zaire McNair meant the world to her. Overtime she was blessed with 7 grandchildren Tahmir, Alyssa, Kaylyn, Makhi, ZaRai, Kaisyn and Zara. Chan treasured her time with her grandkids. They decorated on holidays, made a variety of arts and crafts and cooked large meals together. Family time was always full of fun, games, laughter and music. Chan loved to listen to a variety of genres. Her favorites were Gospel, R&B, Pop Rock and Rap. She would sing for hours. While balancing work and being a mother, Chan decided to continue her education. She received her GED and then went on to take college courses at Camden County College. Following she met her now husband, Tyler Pierce. They began dating in 2015. They shared many exciting adventures together. Her favorite couple’s activity was fishing. It quickly became a hobby she loved. She would always share photos of her catch with family and friends. On December 28, 2018 Chan was blessed with another miracle. Their healthy baby boy Karsyn was born. Chan was thrilled to wake up everyday with a son. She worked at achieving all age appropriate milestones and teaching him all that she could. They read many books and went out to play often. March 3, 2022 was a cherishable date for Chan. It’s the day she officially married her husband Tyler. Tyler Jr, Shymear, Tyrees and Christian were all welcomed with open arms. Together they created a home for their children and grandchildren. Chan loved having family time. It made her feel wholesome and at peace.
