Obituary of Tikye Robinson
On the warm Summer morning of June 22nd, 2010, at 5:56am, Tikye Robinson was born to William Robinson III and Taja Grey in The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Tikye, affectionately called “Rocky” and “Turtle” by those who loved him was very energetic and full of life. Though small in stature, he owned a large illuminating personality.
At a young age he taught us what strength, perseverance, and courage looked like as he continued to overcome incredible odds. Tikye was insightful, reflective and inquisitive. He held conversations at any level and often questioned his doctors, seemingly keeping them on their toes. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia was a second home for Tikye. He knew where to go when he had an appointment and every time he had to stay he know Child Life could give him whatever he wanted. He attended Chester Community Charter, where he was referred to as, “The Mayor”, and loved by his classmates, teachers and Principal.
Following his dad’s footsteps, he enjoyed rapping and listening to music. He was extremely active. On any given day you would catch Tikye running around the house as his favorite superhero, “Flash”, imitating Power Ranger moves, while enjoying pizza like the Ninja Turtles. When “bored” he would ask to go outside and ride his bike.
Just like “Flash” Tikye brought an abundance of light, brightening any room quickly with his smile and personality. He was caring, like his mother. “I love my family. I love my family”, he proclaimed and his family loved him in return. Tikye will be forever cherished and his legacy will live on.
He leaves to cherish in his memory; his mother, Taja Grey, his father, William Robinson III, his siblings, Talia, Aniyah, Siannie, Samaj, Sabeer, Siasia, Salay, maternal grandparents, Jascent Grey, Michael Reynolds, paternal grandparents, Nicole Richardson, William Robinson Jr., great-great grandparents, Carolyn Coaxum, Joseph Coaxum, godmother, Jessica Sours, godsister, Bella Sours and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Taheer Robinson, his sister Samiyah, paternal grandparents Henrietta Harrell, Leon Harrell, maternal grandparents, Clara Grey, Bertram Grey.
